RAE LITTING

Rae Litting (nee Geddes) was born in Melbourne. Her family moved to Singapore, and she spent 6 years in a boarding school where she learnt to read (because there was nothing else to do) and to write (because this was the only means of communication with the outside world).

She did an arts degree at Sydney University, and, lacking the imagination to think of any other employment, became a teacher.

The Kidnap of Alice McGilvray is her first published novel. She has not given up her day job, which is teaching English to migrants.

She is married to Ken, some of whose stories about his job with a harbourside council have provided raw material for this book. They have three adult children.
