Glory Days by Alan Whiticker
Tuesday August 2 was a glorious day in every way for Sydney's most successful leagues club, Souths, with the launch of Alan Whiticker's book 'Glory Days'. Blue skies, magnificent harbour side setting at Wolloomooloo Bay Hotel and no less than 15 legends of the game from the club's golden era 1967 -1971 in attendance. Acknowledging their contribution to Souths and to the game in general, MC Peter Wilkins and Mario Fenech paid tribute to these heroes of the game who feature with other memorable players in Alan's book. Special guest, John Sattler, proved a popular target for media, fellow players old and new and guests on the day, all clamouring for a chat and his autograph along with those of all the legends present, including Adam Lisle, Alan Scott, Arthur Branighan, Ray Branighan, Bob Grant, Bob Honan, Bob McCarthy, Greg Norgard, Elwyn Walters, Gary Stevens, Ivan Jones and Keith Edwards.
'Glory Days' is Alan Whiticker's 14th book on rugby league and followed the July release of 'Rugby League Through The Decades' covering 100 years of the sport in Australia.
Tom Williams' DIY Book Launch
Australia's most famous chippie unveiled his DIY tome at the very chic Winery in Surry Hills, Sydney this month. The radio host, television presenter and now author was joined by ACP heavyweight Peter Holder, radio funny man Merrick Watts, designer Rachel Gilbert and Morning Show co-host Larry Emdur. With the recent craze for DIY-ing, revamping and renovating our homes (think The Block and The Renovators), Tom's book was perfectly timed.
Supper at the Victoria Room
The talented duo behind Sydney's Victoria Room produced nothing short of impressive at the launch of their stunning new book, Supper at the Victoria Room. The delightful treats on offer included zucchini and haloumi fritters, roast capsicum and tomato salsa on toasted sourdough with goat's curd and kingfish ceviche, all of which come straight out of the recipes from the book, of course.
Richard Wilkins
"I know three things about Richard Wilkins great bloke, big hair, massive c---k," TODAY Show host Karl Stefanovic told guests at the launch of Richard Wilkins' fabulous book, Black Ties, Red Carpets, Green Rooms at Kit & Kaboodle in Sydney's Kings Cross playground. Everyone turned out for the event, including Nine's Head Honcho, David Gyngell and Foxtel's leading man, Brian Walsh. Vanessa Amorosi serenaded the crowd with her stellar voice and the champers flowed plentifully. Also among the A-list crowd were Angela Bishop, Lisa Wilkinson, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, radio duo Ant & Becks, Georgie Gardner and the Inghams. Have we name-dropped enough? No? Richard's book will fix that.
